Town Clerk; Full-Time

Pay: $22.00-$28.00

Summary

Performs a variety of administrative municipal functions and shall have the powers and duties provided by Wisconsin §60.33 and such duties as may be assigned by the Town Board.

Responsible for the proper administration of elections, business licensing, and record keeping of the Town.

Essential Functions

  • Serve as the custodian of records for the Town, coordinating the preparation of current and archived Town records for efficient and effective storage.
  • Administer elections, including maintenance of voter information and required reporting.
  • Maintain the Wisconsin Statewide Voter Registration System (WisVote) to include voter records, absentee applications, election setup, candidate information, create poll lists, and other various lists and reports.
  • Recruit and train election workers, track training and ensure chief election inspectors remain certified by state statute to run polls.
  • Prepare agendas and public hearing notices in accordance with the Open Meetings Law and assemble other supporting documents for meetings of the Town Board.
  • Responsible for all minutes of the Town Board, and other boards, committees and commissions, as assigned (meetings typically occur in the evening).
  • Serve as Secretary to the Board of Review and perform all duties required by Wisconsin State Statutes regarding assessment of property, including filing all necessary reports with the Department of Revenue.
  • Administer business licensing for the Town, including all liquor, tobacco, coin-operated machine, direct seller, beverage operator, and secondhand article dealer in accordance with Wisconsin State Statutes and municipal code.
  • Prepare and file annual financial reports.
  • Knowledge of TID (preferred)

Education, Experience, and Training

  • High School Diploma or G.E.D. equivalent required.
  • Minimum of three years’ experience as a municipal clerk, deputy clerk, or other comparable position in a municipal government.
  • Certification from Wisconsin Municipal Clerk’s Association (preferred)
  • Training from the Wisconsin Election Commission (WEC) on election administration and WISVOTE.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age, a citizen of the United States, and possess a valid Wisconsin driver’s license.
  • Hold a Notary Public, or be able to obtain one within 6 months of employment.
  • Pass a pre-employment criminal background check.

 

Essential Knowledge and Abilities

  • Well-developed communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to retain confidentiality of town employment, personnel, and financial matters.
  • Proficiency in software programs such as Caselle by Civic.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office software and their applications.
  • Good interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to manage time well, be highly organized, and plan work assignments effectively.
  • Capable of meeting and dealing with public in a pleasant and professional manner.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
  • Ability to establish successful working relationships.

Work is performed in an office setting. The applicant is occasionally required to:

  • Sit, stand, walk, and kneel.

Full-Time Public Works Laborer-Operator

The Town of Brookfield Department of Public Works is searching for an individual to provide crossover staffing between the DPW and Utility District #1. This includes, but is not limited to:

  • snow plowing
  • stormsewer maintenance
  • cutting weeds/grass
  • maintenance on town vehicles and facilities
  • structural and cosmetic repair of all town facilities

Part-Time Seasonal Park Maintenance

The Town of Brookfield Park & Recreation Department is searching for an individual to provide maintenance for all town parks and facilities. This includes, but is not limited to:

  • repair and maintenance of all roadways
  • grass mowing and trimming
  • tree maintenance
  • park restroom cleaning
  • baseball and softball diamond set up
  • landscape projects
  • watering of trees and flowers
  • painting and maintenance of facilities
  • special event set up

Soccer & Baseball Coaches

The Town of Brookfield Park & Recreation Department is searching for coaches for it's Summer Baseball, Spring and Fall Soccer programs. These are instructional programs for kids between the ages of 2 - 6. Typically, two age groups for each sport/session, once per week for 5-6 weeks are run (averaging 2.5 - 3 hours per week). Summer Baseball runs June 14 - July 26 from 5 - 7 pm (August 2 make up date); and Fall Soccer runs September 9 - October 14 from 5 - 7 pm (October 21 make up date). Dates and times are subject to change.

Firefighter/EMT-Paramedic
Firefighter/EMT-Basic

The Town of Brookfield Fire Department accepts applications for the position of Firefighter/EMT on a year-round basis. Completed applications that are submitted to the Department will be kept on file and reviewed when it is determined that additional hiring is necessary.

Applications can be obtained at the Town of Brookfield Fire Department located 645 N. Janacek Rd., Brookfield, WI 53045 or online here. Applications may be picked-up at the station Monday through Friday between the hours of 8:00 am to 5:00 pm.

Minimum eligibility requirements for the position include a State of Wisconsin Firefighter 1 Certificate, a current State of Wisconsin Emergency Medical Technician - Basic License (EMT- Paramedic preferred), valid driver license and a Certificate of Completion of the Candidate Physical Ability Test (CPAT*). All candidates must provide copies of the above qualifications as well as copies requested in the application when submitting their completed packets.

Non-Firefighter/Paramedic & Firefighter/Paramedic

 The Town of Brookfield Fire Department is currently accepting applications for the positions of Non-Firefighter/Paramedic and Firefighter/Paramedic. This is a part-time position with the potential to work up to 50 plus hours per week. Employees are able to select their work schedule. There is no deadline for application submittal.

Minimum eligibility requirements for the position of Non-Firefighter Paramedic include a State of Wisconsin Paramedic License. Eligibility requirements for the position of Firefighter Paramedic include Firefighter 1 Certificate, and a current State of Wisconsin Paramedic License.
